What is TMJ ? — How we can help

TMJ disorders affect the joints in your jaw and the muscles around them. The medical term is temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), but many people call it TMJ.

You have two TMJs — one on each side of your face, near your ears. These joints help you chew, talk, and move your jaw.TMD is common. It affects up to 12 million people in the U.S., mostly between the ages of 20 and 40. Females are twice as likely to have it.

Dr. Edwards is an innovator in the field of TMD, who has created an incredible networks of doctors that all believe the truth — your teeth, gums and jaw joints Are Your Body!  Changes in the health of one, affect the whole and vice versa.  Getting to the root cause of your individual diagnosis is paramount and your story is a crucial part of that discovery.  Understanding the history around your Jaw Joint Pain or Issues, what you have tried, what has been done and so on; your story becomes the foundation for the diagnostic process!

“As Dr. Edwards went through the process of discovering the total extent of my issues, I was a part of it at every turn. I felt like, even though he does this all the time and teaches classes on TMJ, he treated mine like it was unique and took an individualized approach. I had seen many different doctors and specialists and no one could figure out the cause of the issues I was having, and never explained anything to me. I couldn’t believe over half my life I was being treated by all these different doctors and specialists and they never really did a thorough diagnosis or comprehensive approach to my care!” Nick W.
